  30. I've upload another new copy of PartMan, the partition manager for Acorn's
  31. RiscOS onto the FTP site for testing.
  32.  
  33. It is a debug-only version, which means that it will not write any partition
  34. information to your hard drives.  Please try this copy out, and mail me the
  35. results (uuencoded please).
  36.  
  37. It should recognise the following partitioning schemes:
  38.  
  39.   1) Filecore Linux
  40.   2) ICS IDEFS partitions
  41.   3) PowerTec partitions
  42.   4) PC Bios partitions
  43.  
  44. Note, however, that partition schemes 2) and 3) will not currently allow you
  45. to create new partitions - deletion and editing will work.  Also on all
  46. partitioning schemes,  the save option is only available if you have
  47. changed the partition information in some way (eg, choosing edit, and
  48. then 'OK' without changing any information).
  49.  
  50. When you start PartMan, you will be presented with an information window.
  51. Read this, and then click the close box.
  52.  
  53. Please mail any ideas for enhancements and problems to myself.  This is
  54. especially important if you enounter an abort()/assert() failure.

  56. If you find that you cannot get PartMan to recognise your drive, please
  57. use Zap to mail me the contents of certain sectors (listed below):
  58.  
  59.   1) for Filecore:  sector 6
  60.   2) for ICS IDEFS: sector 0
  61.   3) for PowerTec:  sector 0
  62.   4) for PC Bios:   sector 0
  63.  
  64. I would prefer these to be Print Dumped first (File->Print->Dump in Zap) -
  65. I can then view them under Linux easily.

  67. You will notice that it appears to be very slow on some machines - this is
  68. intentional due to the amount of debug code.  The official non-alpha/beta
  69. version will have debugging disabled.
